Moisture penetration is the leading cause of premature deterioration of chimneys and other masonry structures. WeatherTite manufactures products to protect masonry. Our products are all premixed and easy to use. The average single flue chimney can be repaired and sealed in less than 30 minutes, generate up to $1000 and yield margins of up to 90%.

All masonry chimneys have a crown, sometimes called a wash. This is the mortar or cement cap located at the top of the chimney. Due to the harmful effects of weather combined with the constant contraction and expansion of masonry, all crowns will or are already cracked. Once this cracking occurs, water is allowed to enter the chimney structure. This water will eventually cause damage and deterioration such as cracked or loose bricks and mortar joints.

Your job is to solve two problems and WeatherTite has the products to help you get the job done. First you must stop the water from entering the chimney. Second, you must allow the moisture that has already entered the chimney to escape.

Step One is stopping the water by repairing the damaged crown with CrownTite, a brush applied elastomeric coating. CrownTite is premixed and ready to apply. Simply follow the directions on the pail and this part of the repair can be done in minutes with no masonry experience. The repair only requires a paint brush and depending on your skill with that brush, tape for masking the top row of brick.

Step Two also stops water penetration but more importantly allows the moisture already in the structure to dry out. This is accomplished by treating the brick with WaterTite Masonry Water Repellent. Follow all directions on the pail and the application can be done in minutes using a simple pump sprayer. Because all brick is naturally porous, normal rains will prevent moisture in a masonry structrure from ever drying out without assistance. Unlike most available sealers which trap moisture in, WaterTite is 100% vapor permeable. In other words, WaterTite is a good enough seal to keep a water molecule out but not a good enough seal to keep a vapor molecule in.

Once you have solved the moisture issues with the chimney or other masonry structure, be sure to check all the flashing. FlashTite is great for fixing leaky flashing on chimneys, vents and skylights. Unlike other coatings and caulks that become brittle once cured, FlashTite will remain permanently flexible. For repairs that require extra support, FlashTite can be combined with our 6” fiber mesh tape for added strength. Simple leaks can now be fixed without major repairs. No more pulling up shingles to replace to fix flashing leaks.
